Show Me The Money.

Like so many millions of other one-night NFL fanatics, I found myself sitting wide-eyed and slack-jawed as I witnessed Drew Brees pull off some truly Saint-ified miracles over Indianapolis on Sunday. If there’s any occasion that signals crowds who have never cared a day in their life about football to join their jersey-clad, fist-pumping counterparts in  impulsively yelling at the television screen and making calls for referees with years of sideline experience, it’s the Superbowl.

According to Nielsen TV Ratings, Sunday’s game attracted over 106.5 million viewers to US network CBS, topping numbers for the season finale of M*A*S*H*, which has held the ratings record since 1983.

The average cost of advertising during this years broadcast was $3.01 million for a 30 second spot. For some advertisers, the opportunity inspired enough creativity and humor for commercials to claim spots on top five lists across television networks and a  multitude of search engine hits online. For others, commercials fell so flat on their faces that the entire country seemed in agreement that they be shunned.

My list was short:

1. Bud light’s “Here we go” with the book club

2. Bud Light’s “Light house”

3. Bridgestone’s bachelor party with killer whale

4. Doritio’s commercial with the suitor slap

5. Robin Hood preview with Russell Crowe

Which are your top picks? Check ’em all out here.
